Dashboard
The page you land on after signing in, and what each part of it does.
What's on the dashboard?
Four boxes, one for each part of Picette. Galleries counts what you have and offers New gallery. Website says Not started, Draft, or Live, and takes you to the builder or the theme store. Studio shows new leads and your next session, with links to Leads, Calendar, and Invoices. Print store shows whether payouts are connected and links to your orders.
Below them: the Your link row, your plan and storage meter, then every gallery as a card, and the latest client activity. The top bar reaches everything else — Site · Print store · Studio · Lightroom · account.
What is the setup checklist?
A four-step strip under the greeting: claim your link, create a gallery, build your website, set up payouts. Each step links to the right place and is ticked off as you go. It disappears on its own once all four are done, or press hide to dismiss it early.
Why am I asked to confirm my email?
We send a confirmation link when you sign up. Until you click it you can build everything, but sending gallery invites by email and client campaigns stay locked. If the message hasn't arrived, press Resend on the banner and check your spam folder; the banner goes away the moment the link is clicked.
How do I claim my link, and can I change it later?
On the Your link row of the dashboard, type a name after picette.com/ (3–30 characters: letters, numbers, dashes), add the studio name clients will see, and press Save. Every gallery you make lives under it: picette.com/yourstudio/their-album.
You can change it with Edit on the same row, but nothing forwards from the old name, so links you've already sent stop working. Pick one you'll keep.
How do I make a new gallery?
Press New gallery at the top right (or in the Galleries box). A small step opens for the name — usually the clients' names — and an optional date line; press Create and the editor opens with a three-step guide: upload, pick a cover, send the link. If you'd like to see a finished gallery before uploading your own, choose Start with sample photos.
Getting started
From a blank gallery to a link in a client's inbox.
How do I upload photos and pick a cover?
In the editor, drop photos onto the page, or click the drop zone to choose them — on a phone that opens your camera roll. The first photo becomes the cover; hover any other and press ★ to make it the cover instead. Covers are photographs only, not clips or RAW files.
How do I send a gallery to a client?
Just under the settings in the editor: Copy link and send it however you like, Table card ↓ for a printable card with a QR code, or Send by email instead to type addresses and a short note and have Picette deliver it. View as client in the top bar shows exactly what they'll open. Clients don't need an account — the link is the door.
Is there a limit on galleries?
No. Every plan has unlimited galleries; the only limit is storage — 4 GB on Free, 25 GB on Solo, 100 GB on Pro, 1 TB on Studio, 3 TB on Atelier. See Billing.
What file types can I upload?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and TIFF on every plan. Video (MP4, MOV, WebM) needs Pro or above; RAW files (CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, DNG, and the rest) need Studio or above — files that need a higher plan are set aside with a note. A web-sized copy is made for viewing; originals are stored untouched.
Can I do all this from my phone?
Yes. The editor and the site builder both work in a mobile browser, including uploads from your camera roll. For big shoots a laptop, or the Lightroom plug-in, is faster — see Lightroom.
An upload stopped partway — what now?
Keep the tab open while uploading; leaving it pauses the queue. Come back and it resumes on its own. If the editor says some files didn't finish, drop the same files in again — Picette remembers what already arrived, so nothing is duplicated. If one file fails repeatedly, check it opens on your computer, then tell us the filename.
Can I try everything before paying?
Free includes 4 GB and every gallery design option, with no time limit. Anything that needs more — publishing a site, watermarks, video, films — shows a small note with a link to plans, and you can upgrade the moment you need one.
Galleries
Design, privacy, delivery, and the things clients ask about.
How do I change how a gallery looks?
Open the gallery. The settings sit at the top of the editor in four groups. Cover holds the cover style, typeface, title case, crop, your name, and the date line. Gallery holds layout, thumbnail size and crop, spacing, background, accent, photo order, slideshow pace, and image protection. Changes save as you make them; press View as client to see the result. Every option is on every plan.
What are sets?
Chapters inside one gallery — Getting ready, Ceremony, Reception. Above the photo grid press + Set and name it. While a set's tab is selected, new uploads land in it; drag any photo onto a set tab to move it there. Clients see sets as sections with their own headings.
How do I hide a photo without deleting it?
Hover the photo and press ◎. It stays in the gallery for you but never appears for clients or in downloads; press it again to show it. Hover also gives × to remove a photo for good.
How do downloads and PINs work?
Open Editor → Privacy & delivery. Turn on Allow downloads and choose Download sizes: original + web, original only, or web size only. Clients can take a single photo, their favourites, or the whole gallery at once. Set a Download PIN (numbers, up to six digits) and it's asked for before anything downloads — handy when a gallery is open to view but you want to control who takes files home.
How do I limit a gallery to certain people?
In Editor → Privacy & delivery set Who can enter: Anyone with the link; Email at the door, where each visitor leaves an address (which also fills your client list); Guest list only, a comma-separated list of addresses that may enter, each confirmed at the door Solo+; or Password. Anyone else sees a polite closed door.
Can a gallery expire?
Yes. Pick a date under Editor → Privacy & delivery → Link expires. After it, visitors see a quiet "this gallery has closed" page. Nothing is deleted — clear or move the date at any time.
How do I watermark previews? Solo+
Type the mark you want — usually your studio name — into Editor → Brand & extras → Watermark. It's burned into the web previews only, so originals stay clean for downloads, and takes a minute to apply. On Free the field is locked.
What are films? Studio+
A slideshow your client makes from the gallery, rendered as a video they can download and share — at their own pace, or timed to a song they add. Turn it on per gallery with Editor → Brand & extras → Slideshow video. Clients are responsible for the rights to music they add.
Can I deliver video? Pro+
Drop MP4, MOV, or WebM files in like anything else. Each clip is processed for a minute or two, then streams at web quality next to the photos and downloads at full quality. Clips are up to 2 GB each on Pro, 5 GB on Studio, and 10 GB on Atelier, and count toward your storage.
Can I deliver RAW files? Studio+
Yes. RAW files upload alongside everything else, appear in the editor as a labelled RAW tile with the filename, and are delivered to clients as downloads. They count toward storage at full size, so keep an eye on the meter.
Where do I see who opened a gallery?
At the bottom of the editor under Gallery activity: opens, visitors, downloads, favourites, notes, and films, a 30-day chart, a table of visitors with what they downloaded and hearted, and any notes left on photos. Export activity CSV is there on Pro and above. To get an email when a client opens or downloads, use Account → Notifications.
How do I remove "Delivered with Picette"? Solo+
Turn on Editor → Brand & extras → Hide Picette branding. It's a per-gallery switch, and it also takes the line off that gallery's table card. Your public homepage drops the mark once every gallery has it hidden.
Your site
A website built from your galleries, on your own domain.
How do I pick a template?
The first time you open Site the template library appears; later, it's at Site → Look → Choose a template. Every template is filled with photographs from your own galleries the moment you apply it. Applying one replaces your pages (you're asked to confirm); your galleries and journal posts stay. Six themes are free. Premium themes show a price and open the theme store — $79 once, or included on Studio and Atelier.
How is the builder laid out?
Three columns. Pages on the left, with the site-wide settings beneath: Look, Journal, Footer & contact, Domain, Advanced. The inspector in the middle edits whichever page or section you've selected. A live preview on the right redraws as you type, in Desktop or Phone widths. On a phone you switch between Pages, Edit, and Preview with the tabs at the top. Save keeps your changes (⌘S works too); the pill in the top bar says Draft · not visible or Live.
How do sections work?
Select a page and press + Add beside Sections: Hero, Gallery, Photo & text, Text, Columns, Kind words, Questions, Pricing, Contact form, Recent galleries, Call to action, Space, Video, Journal. Each has its own fields in the inspector plus a background and spacing; use ↑ ↓ to reorder and ✕ to remove. Clicking a section in the preview selects it. Recent galleries shows the galleries with Feature on your site turned on in their Privacy & delivery settings; enquiries from a Contact form land in Studio → Leads.
How do I publish? Solo+
Press Publish in the top bar. Free lets you build and preview the whole site; taking it live needs Solo or above and a claimed link. Until you add a domain it's live at picette.com/yourstudio. Once live, Save updates the site in place, and Unpublish takes it back to a draft without losing anything.
Can I use my own domain? Studio+
Yes. At your registrar add one CNAME record for the name you want (say www.yourstudio.com) pointing at picette.com. Then go to Site → Domain, type the name, and press Connect. We check the record and issue the certificate — up to a minute — and from then on your site and every gallery are served from your domain. Disconnect is in the same place.
How do I write a journal post?
Site → Journal → + Post. Give it a title, a date, an address (the part after /journal/), a cover, the text (blank lines make paragraphs), and any photographs. Preview shows the post; Save, and publish if the site isn't live yet. Posts live at yourdomain/journal/address; add a Journal section to any page to feature the latest ones.
Can I add custom CSS?
Yes, at Site → Advanced → Custom CSS. It loads after the theme's own styles, so anything you write wins. Target sections by class — .blk--hero, .blk--gallery, and so on. Keep a copy somewhere: starting over from a template resets it.
How do I change the theme, typeface, colour, or logo?
Site → Look: choose one of the six themes, override the typeface, pick an accent colour, and upload a logo (without one, your name is set in the site's type).
Where do I set the page title and description for search?
Select a page in the Pages column and open Search & sharing in the inspector: a page title and a description, per page. Gallery pages on your site get theirs automatically from the gallery name and cover.
Studio
Leads, calendar, money, paperwork, and people — the business side.
Where do leads come from?
Every enquiry through your site's Contact form lands in Studio → Leads, marked "from your site"; press + Lead to add one by hand. Open a lead to read their message, keep notes, and set its status — new, contacted, booked, done, lost. From the same window, + Session, + Invoice, and + Contract create those with the client's details already filled in, and everything made from the lead is listed under With this lead.
How do sessions and the calendar feed work?
Add one at Studio → Calendar → + Session: what, client, when, how long, where, notes. Beneath the list press Create feed link, then subscribe to that address in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook — sessions appear there and update themselves. Anyone with the link can read it; Regenerate revokes the old one.
How do invoices and payouts work? Pro+
Make one at Studio → Money → + Invoice: client, title, due date, line items, a note, then Create & send. The client pays by card on a private page that carries your name, and the money lands in your Stripe payouts — set up once at Print store → Set up payouts. Picette takes no commission on invoices; card processing is passed through at Stripe's rate. Without payouts connected you can still send an invoice and be paid your own way. Open any invoice to copy its link, send it again, or delete it.
How do contracts work? Pro+
Studio → Paperwork → + Contract starts from a plain-language photography agreement you can rewrite: lines beginning with # become headings, and {{client_name}}, {{photographer}}, and {{date}} fill themselves in. Type your own signature and press Create & send. The client opens the link and types their name to sign; the signed copy is kept on the contract with the time and IP, and you get an email. The starter text isn't legal advice — have a lawyer look at yours once.
What are questionnaires? Pro+
Forms you send before a session — timeline, family list, must-have shots. Studio → Paperwork → Questionnaires → + Questionnaire starts from a nine-question wedding-day template; questions can be short, long, a choice, or a date. Open one, enter the client's email under Send to, and press Send. Answers appear under Answers on the same tab as they come in, and you get an email.
How do campaigns work? Pro+
Studio → People → Email. Write a subject and a note and press Send — it goes to everyone who has entered one of your galleries with their email address. Replies come to your inbox; each send is listed beneath with delivered and bounced counts. One campaign every fifteen minutes, and your own email must be confirmed first.
Where is my client list?
Studio → People → Clients: everyone who has entered a gallery with an email — through Email at the door or a guest list — with what they hearted, what they downloaded, and when they were last seen.
Which studio tools are on Free and Solo?
Leads, sessions, the calendar feed, and the client list are on every plan. Invoices, contracts, questionnaires, and campaigns need Pro or above.
Store
Lab prints, sold from your galleries and shipped to your clients.
How do I enable prints?
Open Print store in the top bar and press Set up payouts — a short Stripe onboarding, which needs your link claimed first. Then turn the store on per gallery at Editor → Brand & extras → Print store; the editor warns you if it's on before payouts are connected. Clients see an Order prints option in the lightbox, and Where it's on at the store page lists every gallery selling.
How are prices set?
The catalogue and its prices are fixed, and shown under Print store → What clients can order: 5×7 and 8×10 lustre prints, 11×14 and 16×20 fine-art prints, a 16×20 gallery canvas, and a 16×20 framed and mounted print. Shipping is added at checkout at the lab's rate. Your earnings on each order are the price less the lab's cost, your plan's commission, and the card fee.
What commission does Picette take?
A share of the print price, by plan: 15% on Free, 5% on Solo, 5% on Pro, 0% on Studio, 0% on Atelier. The lab cost is never marked up, and card processing is passed through at Stripe's rate with nothing added.
When do I get paid?
Your share of each order goes to your connected Stripe account when the client pays, and Stripe pays it out to your bank on its usual schedule. Print store shows your sales so far and each order's earnings; Payout settings opens your Stripe account.
Where do I see orders?
Print store → Orders lists every order with the gallery, date, status, and what you earned. The lab prints and ships straight to the client, who gets the confirmation and updates by email — you're told, not involved. Shipping is currently within the US.
What is a table card?
A printable 5×7 card with a QR code that opens the gallery, for weddings and events. Press Table card ↓ next to Copy link in the editor; it uses the gallery's cover and title type.
A print arrived damaged. What do I do?
Within 14 days of delivery, either the client replies to their order email with a photo of the problem, or you write to us with the gallery, the order, and a photo. It's reprinted or refunded — the client's choice. Details are on the refunds page.
Which products and papers are offered?
Lustre and fine-art prints in standard sizes, a gallery canvas, and a framed, mounted print, all from a professional lab. The current list with prices is always at Print store → What clients can order.
Lightroom
Export straight into a gallery from Lightroom Classic.
How do I install the plug-in? Pro+
Open Lightroom in the top bar and press Download the plug-in; unzip it somewhere permanent, since it stays installed from there. In Lightroom Classic open File → Plug-in Manager → Add, choose the picette.lrplugin folder, and press Done.
Where do I get my key?
On the same Lightroom page, under Your key, press Generate a key and then Copy. It signs the plug-in in instead of your password, so treat it like one. Generating a new key retires the old one. Keys need Pro or above and a claimed link.
How do I export into a gallery?
In Lightroom Classic choose File → Export, set Export To to Picette, paste your key, and press Load galleries. Pick a gallery — or name a new one — and export; the photos land in it as they render. No browser, no drag-and-drop.
Does it work with the cloud version of Lightroom?
No — the plug-in is for Lightroom Classic only. From Lightroom (cloud) export as usual and drop the files into a gallery in your browser.
Do plug-in uploads count toward storage?
Yes, the same as browser uploads. If you export full-size JPEGs the files are the size Lightroom makes them; the plug-in doesn't resize.
The plug-in says my key is invalid.
The key was probably regenerated, or the account has dropped below Pro. Make a new one on the Lightroom page, paste it into the export dialog, and try again. If it still fails, write to us.
Billing
Plans, changes, and receipts.
What are the plans?
Free 4 GB · Solo 25 GB · Pro 100 GB · Studio 1 TB · Atelier 3 TB. Every plan has unlimited galleries and every gallery design option. Prices and the full comparison are on the pricing page.
What needs which plan?
Publishing a site, hiding branding, watermarks, and guest lists: Solo+. Video, invoices, contracts, questionnaires, campaigns, the activity CSV, and the Lightroom plug-in: Pro+. Films, RAW, a custom domain, and every premium theme included: Studio+. Atelier is Studio with 3 TB, 10 GB clips, and priority rendering.
How do I upgrade, and what does it cost mid-period?
From Free, press Account → Upgrade plan (or choose a plan on the pricing page) and check out. On a paid plan, switch at Account → Manage billing. Upgrades are prorated — you pay only the difference for the days left in your current period, and the new plan starts immediately.
Monthly or yearly?
Either. Switch at Account → Manage billing. Moving up is prorated; moving down takes effect at the end of the period you've already paid for.
How do I cancel?
Account → Manage billing → Cancel plan. You keep everything until the end of the period you've paid for, then drop to Free. Nothing is deleted. Refund rules are on the refunds page.
Where are my receipts?
Account → Manage billing lists every payment with a downloadable invoice. Each one is also emailed to your billing address when it's charged.
How do I change my card or billing address?
Account → Manage billing. It opens a secure page from Stripe, who handle all card details; Picette never sees your full card number.
What happens when I run out of storage?
New uploads stop, and the editor tells you your plan is full and which plan is next up. Nothing is deleted. Delete galleries you no longer need, or move up a plan, and uploads resume immediately. The meter is on the dashboard and at Account → Membership.
What happens if I downgrade and I'm over the new limit?
Every link keeps working. Galleries above the new limit become read-only — clients can still view and download, you just can't add to them until you're under the line or back on a larger plan. Nothing is deleted for 30 days, and we write to you before anything changes after that.
How do premium themes work?
They're $79 each, once, and yours to keep — or included with Studio and Atelier. Buy from the theme store with Get this theme; after checkout you're back in the builder with it applied. Refundable within 7 days if it hasn't yet gone onto a published site — ask via contact.
Account & privacy
Your details, your clients' details, and what everyone sees.
How do I delete my account?
Under Account → Danger, type your password, press Delete my account, then press it again within five seconds to confirm. It cancels any subscription and permanently removes every gallery, photo, and original; clients' links stop working immediately. Download anything you want to keep first — we can't restore it afterwards.
What do my clients see?
Only the gallery you share: your cover, your studio name, the photos, and the options you've turned on. No advertising and no other photographers' work. A small "Delivered with Picette" line sits at the foot of galleries on Free; Solo and above can hide it per gallery.
Do clients need an account?
No. A link opens the gallery. If you've set Email at the door they enter an address; favourites and notes are remembered without a login.
Where do I set my studio name and logo?
The studio name clients see is on the dashboard's Your link row, next to your handle. The name printed on a gallery cover is Editor → Cover → Your name. Your site's logo is at Site → Look → Logo. Hiding "Delivered with Picette" needs Solo or above and lives at Editor → Brand & extras.
What do you collect about my clients?
Their email if you've asked for it at the door, plus favourites, notes, and downloads so you can see them under Gallery activity and in your client list. It's used for nothing else and never sold. The full picture is on the privacy page.
How do I change my email or password?
Password: Account → Password — current password, new password, Change password. To change the email you sign in with, write to us from the current address; your handle and galleries don't change.
Can I turn off the "a client opened your gallery" emails?
Yes — untick Account → Notifications. Activity is still recorded in each gallery's editor.
Can I get all my files back out?
Yes, any time — originals are stored untouched. In a gallery, turn on Allow downloads with originals included, open it with View as client, and use Download all for a zip of the originals. Do that gallery by gallery; if you have a lot, write to us and we'll help.
Still stuck? Tell us what you were trying to do and we'll reply, usually the same day.
